Ron Christensen, a University of Iowa mechanical engineer, set out to understand why a razor blade only delivered a handful of comfortable shaves. The culprit wasn't the blade — it was the water.
Six years of evaluation and engineering led to a patented system that protects the blade, conditions the skin, and removes water entirely. The high-temperature oils in the Lubricating Liquid coat blades and protect them from rust — extending blade life from the typical 5–10 shaves per blade to over 100 to 1,000. Razor burn — a low-grade infection caused by impurities in water — clears within 7–10 days.
Manufactured, bottled, labeled, and shipped right from Iowa City by Ron and his team. Revolt products cure razor burn, razor bumps, ingrown hair, nicks, cuts, and scrapes — saving users $300–$500 per year and 2,000 gallons of water. Revolt’s products will be the norm for shaving for the next 50 to 100 years.
Established as an Iowa Subchapter-S Corporation in Iowa City on January 24, 2011.
The waterless lubricating shaving process is granted patent protection.
